Paige Skinner tallied nine saves in a contest where Edinboro was outshot, 35-16. The Fighting Scots finished their first season under head coach
Caitlin Formato with a 7-10 record, tying the school season record for wins, and a 2-10 PSAC mark. The Golden Rams improved to 16-1 and 11-1 in PSAC play.
The Golden Rams charged out of the gate early to take a 7-0 lead with 12:35 remaining in the first half. West Chester went on to hold a 28-6 advantage in shots in the first 30 minutes, with Skinner registering eight first-half saves. Martin put a crooked number on Edinboro's side of the scoreboard with a goal to cut West Chester's lead to six goals with 11:45 left in the half. That would be the closest these two teams would come, however, as West Chester tacked on five more goals, interrupted by an
Anna Purdy score, for a 12-2 advantage at halftime.
Despite West Chester scoring the first three goals of the second half, Edinboro outshot the Golden Rams in the closing period, 10-7, and tallied four of the final seven goals of the match.
Emily Peters scored off a feed by Purdy to make the score, 14-3, with 22:21 to go in the contest. The Golden Rams and Fighting Scots exchanged scores the rest of the way, with
Rachel Olson finding the back of the net on a free position and Martin scoring Edinboro's last two goals off of passes by
Alexa Healy and Purdy, respectively.
Martin added to her all-time leading career points total to 210 points on 78 goals and 132 assists, also ranking first all-time in career assists and eighth in career goals. She finished the year first on the team with 30 assists and second on the team with 57 points. Purdy tacked on three points to hear team-leading season total with 62 points (38 goals, 24 assists), finishing tied for second all-time in season points. Purdy finished her time at Edinboro ranked second all-time in career points (161), second in career assists (61) and tied for third in career goals (100).
Skinner ended the year at 6-9 in goal, matching her 2015 freshman mark. Paige Mitros tallied five saves on the West Chester end to improve to 16-1.
West Chester's Ashley Pyle led the contest with five points on four goals and one assist. Teammate Erin Eckert recorded four goals, while Dina Ciffelli tallied four assists.
