Fighting Scots Ride Rosten's Career-High 32 Points to 75-65 Victory at Indiana(Pa.)

INDIANA, Pa. (January 14, 2017) – Behind junior Ciara Rosten's career night and a dominant second half, the Edinboro University women's basketball team notched its 15th straight victory with a 75-65 win at Indiana(Pa.) on Saturday night in the Kovalchick Complex. With the win, the Fighting Scots improved to 15-2 overall and moved into sole possession of first place in the PSAC West with a perfect 11-0 conference mark. The Crimson Hawks suffered just their third loss of the season to sit at 12-3 and received their first conference blemish to fall to 10-1 in the PSAC.

The loss snaps a 12-game winning streak for IUP and a stretch of five straight victories over the Fighting Scots. Edinboro's 15th straight win is the second longest streak in program history behind the 2011-12 team's 24-straight wins. The win also represents the first Edinboro win at the Kovalchick Complex since the 2013-14 season. Edinboro's 75 points were the most given up by the Crimson Hawks all season after they entered Saturday ranking fourth in the nation in scoring defense, giving up just 52.1 ppg.

The Crimson Hawks had no answer for Rosten as she dropped in a career-high 32 points on a near perfect 14-of-15 shooting. The 6'2'' forward also pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds to record her second double-double on the season and swatted away four shots in just 25 minutes, tying a career-best in denials.

IUP took a 19-16 lead at the end of the first quarter thanks to back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers from Megan Smith, Lauren Wolosik, and Carolyn Appleby.

IUP took a double-digit lead at 31-21 with 3:42 remaining in the first half on a pair of Lexie Griggs free throws. Trailing 36-26 with just over two minutes in the half, a pair of Jontay Walton free throws cut the deficit to eight points before another Rosten layup made it 36-30 at the break.
