Women’s Swimming Honors Four Seniors as Fighting Scots Defeat Clarion, 112-93

EDINBORO, Pa. (January 27, 2017) – The Edinboro University women's swimming team honored four seniors Friday evening as the Fighting Scots celebrated a 112-93 PSAC win over Clarion. The victory marked Edinboro's fifth straight win over the Golden Eagles as they improved to 4-3. Clarion dropped to 3-4.

A total of nine Edinboro swimmers were honored as part of Senior Day prior to the meet, with Emily Kling, Breanna Purnell, Mary Rosati and Holly Stein being honored on the women's side.

Stein and Katelyn Kopacko each led Edinboro with three wins. Both teamed up with Purnell and Morgan Joseph to win the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:49.65. Stein took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a PSAC-qualifying time of 1:58.79 and won the 100-yard breaststroke with a PSAC-qualifying 1:05.11. Kopacko won the 50-yard freestyle with a PSAC-qualifying time of 24.83 and teamed up with Casey Tokarski, Anastasiia Semkiv and Joseph for a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, clocking in at 1:41.93.

Yana Miletska won the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard butterfly with PSAC-qualifying times of 2:10.31 and 58.28, respectively. She also earned a PSAC-qualifying time in the 100-yard breaststroke, placing second at 1:06.00.

Rosati grabbed PSAC-qualifiers in the 500-yard and 1000-yard freestyle, clocking in at 5:27.33 and 11:05.64, respectively. Purnell earned PSAC-qualifiers in the 200-yard IM and 100-yard butterfly at 2:15.62 and 1:01.35, respectively. Jessie Bliss had a PSAC-qualifying time in the 100-yard freestyle at 56.20, while Semkiv had a league qualifier in the 50-yard freestyle at 25.88.

Edinboro now turns its attention to the PSAC Championships, which takes place February 16-19 at the Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pa.
