Sikora, Jackson Lead Offense For Fighting Scots in Road Loss at Indiana(Pa.)

INDIANA, Pa. – The Edinboro volleyball team took the Crimson Hawks of Indiana(Pa.) to the limit on the road, but fell in straight sets, 25-21, 29-27, 25-14 on Friday night.

The first set would see Indiana(Pa.) sneak out to a 11-7 mid way through the set. But two kills by freshman Cierah Jackson and one by redshirt senior Jill Glover would bring Edinboro tied at 11-11. With the score at 24-18, another kill by Jackson paired with a Crimson Hawk attack error and block by Tessa Sikora and Jackson would get Edinboro within three at 24-21. But Indiana would take the set on the next point to claim it, 25-21.

In the second set, Edinboro jumped out to a 10-7 lead with a kill by Glover. The Crimson Hawks would tie it up before the Fighting Scots would regain the lead at 24-22. With the set tied at 24-24, it would go to extra points. Edinboro kept it point for point until Indiana(Pa.) slipped by taking the set at 29-27.

The Fighting Scots claimed the first point of the third set. Edinboro would keep it close throughout the set after a few service errors by the Crimson Hawks, but Indiana(Pa.) would go on to take the set, 25-14.

Edinboro was led by Glover and freshman Cierah Jackson on the offensive side of the net with eight kills each. Glover hit .300 on the night with just two errors. Senior Sydney Trathen guided the offense with 27 assists while both Glover and redshirt junior Tessa Sikora each had three block assists.

The Fighting Scots will stay on the road for a match at Clarion on Saturday, Oct. 14. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
