Seniors Sent Off With Senior Day Win vs. Bloomsburg, Mutkus Becomes All-Time Goals and Points Leader

EDINBORO, Pa. - The Edinboro women's soccer team honored three seniors before defeating Bloomsburg, 1-0, on Saturday at Sox Harrison Stadium. Sarah Baskey, Coleen Brodman, and Ashley Mutkus were acknowledged for their contributions to Fighting Scot women's soccer program.

After both the Fighting Scots (7-7-3 overall, 6-7-3 PSAC) and Huskies (9-5-3, 8-5-3) went into halftime with the contest tied at 0-0, the Fighting Scots got on the board in the opening minutes of the second half. After Danielle Chatten missed a shot on goal, Mutkus recovered the loose ball inside the goalie box, connecting on net for her 16th goal of the season.

With her 16th goal, she took sole possession of the all-time goal and points records with 39 goals and 92 points, respectively. Mutkus entered the match tied with Liz Debo for first place with 38 career goals and 90 career points. Muktus also moved into second place with 16 goals in a single season.

Over the seniors four seasons, Edinboro has gone 44-27-6 overall, making three PSAC playoff appearances. They also made two NCAA Tournament appearances, advancing to the Sweet Sixteen in 2015.

With the win, Baskey notched her 14th career shutout, good for third best in program history. She recorded four saves on the afternoon.

The Fighting Scots outshot Bloomsburg, 11-9, while also holding a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.

Edinboro heads into the offseason after missing for the PSAC playoffs for the first time in eight seasons. However, the future looks bright for the women's soccer program. 16 freshmen received playing time this season, with eight starting in at least one contest. They combined for 12 goals and 15 assists for 39 points. The Huskies head to PSAC playoffs as the eighth-seed and will faced top-seed West Chester.
