Spikers Host Seton Hill, California(Pa.) in Weekend Matches

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro volleyball team will look to improve on its 12-3 record this weekend with a pair of PSAC contests at McComb Fieldhouse. On Friday, October 6 the Fighting Scots host Seton at 7 p.m. Saturday, October 7 finds the Fighting Scots taking the court at 1 p.m., hosting California(Pa.).

Saturday is Serve Up Some Spirit Saturday. The first 50 students at the match wearing Edinboro gear or showing off their tartan plaid will receive an on-campus dining discount coupon courtesy of Chartwell's.

Edinboro, picked to finish second in the PSAC Northwest Division, is 2-2 in PSAC action after splitting a pair of matches last weekend. Head coach Missy Soboleski's team showcases the play of seniors Challen Litwiler and Sydney Trathen. Litwiler, a 5'8" outside hitter, is second on the team in kills (171), and leads the team in digs (250) and service aces (25). She ranks eighth in career kills with 1,132 and is the career record holder in service aces with 190. She also has more than 1,000 career digs with 1,523.

Trathen is a 5'9" setter who ranks fourth in career assists with 3,876. She leads the team with 512 assists and is second in digs with 148.

However, it is a freshman who leads Edinboro in kills. Cierah Jackson, a 5'8" outside hitter, has 178 kills and a .316 hitting percentage. She ranks fifth in the PSAC in kills per game and ninth in hitting percentage

Seton Hill is 10-3 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC Southwest Division. The Griffins were picked to finish fourth in the division in the coaches' preseason poll. Freshman Viktoria Farian, a 5'10" outside hitter, paces the Griffins with 116 kills, adding 131 digs, which is third on team. Redshirt sophomore Leah Bisignani, a 6'1" middle hitter, adds 112 kills and a team-high 28 total blocks. She is seventh in the PSAC in hitting percentage (.336). 

California(Pa.) is a longtime rival of the Fighting Scots, and now plays in the Southwest Division. The Vulcans were picked to finish second in the division. Cal has a 10-5 overall record and is a perfect 4-0 in league play.  Sophomore Rachel Priore, a 6'0" outside hitter, leads the attack with 220 kills, adding 31 blocks. Senior setter Taylor Soto has 550 assists, ranking eighth in the PSAC, adding 157 digs, which is fourth on the team.
