Kling Repeats as PSAC Women's Swimming Champion Scholar

YORK, Pa. – Prior to the start of Sunday's final session of the PSAC Swimming Championships at the York YMCA Aquatic Club, the conference announced this year's PSAC Swimming Champion Scholars. Edinboro's Emily Kling (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown) earned the PSAC Women's Swimming Champion Scholar for the second consecutive year.

Kling's selection continues the tradition of Edinboro swimmers capturing the award. An Edinboro men's swimmer has been the recipient of the PSAC Champion Scholar award three times, with Kling now winning it twice for the women.

Kling is a junior and an HPE - Health Promotion major with a 4.00 GPA. She participated in the 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, and the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke at the PSAC Championships.

The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA's Elite 89 award and honor the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 23 team championship finals. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 89 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship finals sites of the 89 NCAA championships across all three divisions – I, II, and III.
