CLERMONT, Fla. – The Edinboro University softball team split a pair of contests on Thursday afternoon to sit at 7-4 overall. The Fighting Scots opened the day with a 3-1 victory over Saint Michaels before dropping a 9-0 contest to Charleston.
The Fighting Scots conclude their spring trip tomorrow morning, taking on Ohio Dominican at 8 a.m. before facing off with another PSAC member in West Chester at 10:30 a.m.
Game One – Edinboro 3, Saint Michael's 1
The Fighting Scots struck early in the contest and got a solid complete game from
Kalet Lenart (3-0) to score a 3-1 victory to open the day.
Lenart stayed perfect on the season, improving to 3-0, by giving up just four hits and one run. She struck out six batters and also made an impressive diving catch.

Edinboro got two runs in the bottom of the second to take an early 2-0 lead. After
Heather Tighe got on base thanks to a Saint Michaels' error,
Brittany Allen dropped down a bunt single setting up
Claire Johnston's two-run single.
The Fighting Scots added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to push the lead to 3-0.
Olivia Jankowski led off the inning with a single and stole second before scoring on an error.
Saint Michaels was able to muster up just one run in the top of the seventh before Lenart closed the door for the victory.
Brittany Allen was 3-for-3 in the opening contest. Johnston led the Fighting Scots with a two RBIs on a 1-for-3 performance.
Torie Rathwell (0-3) received the loss for Saint Michaels, giving up eight hits, three runs and striking out four.
Game Two – Charleston 9, Edinboro 0 (SIX INNINGS)
Late runs and errors proved to be the difference as Charleston broke a shutout in the bottom of the fourth, totaling nine runs in the final three innings en route to a 9-0 victory in six innings.
The Fighting Scots committed four errors in the contest, while Charleston committed zero.
Charleston broke through in the fourth inning for one run before totaling five in the fifth and three in the sixth, ending the contest on a two-run homer.
Carley Nasca (2-1) took her first loss of the season, pitching 4.2 innings with five hits allowed, four runs, two walks and three strikeouts.
Alli Burdette (4-5) earned the win for Charleston, giving up three hits with seven strikeouts.
Victoria Allocco was 1-for-2 in the contest.
Cheyenne Bothun was 1-for-1 in her first start this season.
