Freshmen Pave the Way as Women's Harriers Dominate Seton Hill in Doug Watts Dual

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro women's cross country opened the 2017 season in impressive fashion while hosting the Doug Watts Dual on Friday evening. The Fighting Scots bested Seton Hill 16-41 as five of the first six finishers were Fighting Scots.
 
A young Edinboro squad showcased three freshmen as the top three finishers in their first collegiate races. Stefanie Parsons covered the 5K course in a time of 18:11.67 to beat teammate Hope Pietrocarlo by 14 seconds. Pietrocarlo, a redshirt freshman who transferred from Toledo, posted a time of 18:25.70. Fellow freshman Jasmine Fehr was third with a time of 18:31.74.
 
Junior Abbey Lang captured fourth place for the Fighting Scots before Skye Christian became the first Seton Hill runner to cross the finish line. Tori Klimowicz, yet another freshman, came in sixth for Edinboro with a time of 18:59.09.
 
Brooke Messinger was a fifth freshman to finish in the top ten, coming in ninth with a time of 19:24.84.

Edinboro returns to action on Friday, September, competing in the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational hosted by Penn State.
