Edinboro Splits Pair Of Games On Final Day Of Illinois Tournament

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team split a pair of games on the final day of the Illinois Tournament. They opened the day with a 59-36 setback to Nebraska-Omaha before rebounding for the 55-54 come from behind win over the Missouri Tigers.

Kevin Atherley led the way for the Fighting Scots averaging 11.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in the tournament while Chayse Wolf averaged 11.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.25 assists. With the three wins, the Fighting Scots improved their record to 14-13 on the season.

Next for Edinboro will be the Cleveland Tournament on Sunday, February 18.

Nebraska-Omaha 59, Edinboro 36
The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team fell in his third game of the Illinois Tournament by way of a 59-36 setback to Nebraska-Omaha. The Fighting Scots kept it close in the second half, but could not overcome an 18-point half-time deficit. Zadorian Lane came off the bench and led the team in scoring against the Durangos with seven points and two rebounds. Keven Atherley added six points and three rebounds. Chayse Wolf, Ayuba Alli, Seamus McNally, Kyle Cavalier, and CorRales Dupree all chipped in with four points. Bryson McLeod also had six assists.

Edinboro 55, Missouri 54
In their second game of the day, the Fighting Scots came from behind to down the Missouri Tigers thanks to three players in double figures. Edinboro trailed 32-27 at the half. Mizzou held on to the lead for the nearly 16 minutes of the second half before a jumper by Alli gave the Fighting Scots the 51-50 lead. The Tigers would take one more lead at the 3:17 mark left in the game, before an Athlerly jumper gave the Fighting Scots they needed with just over two minutes left. Atherly led the Fighting Scots with 14 points and 12 rebounds for his 10th double-double of the season and second of the tournament. Wolf added 12 points while Alex Saleh chipped in with 10. Edinboro out rebounded the Tigers, 28-27 while holding their opponents to just 45.8 percent shooting from the floor.
