EDINBORO, Pa. – Lorenzo Collier and the Mercyhurst men's basketball team may have spoiled the party a bit with a 92-84 win at Edinboro on Saturday, but the day still belonged to Edinboro's Jaymon Mason. The redshirt senior guard set the school record for career points as he finished with 25 points to eclipse his father Tyrone Mason's total of 1,954 points. Jaymon now has 1,967 points.

Mason entered Saturday's contest need 13 points to break his father's standard. He scored 10 points in the first half, then pulled to within a point of the record with a free throw at the 19:04 mark. He would come down on the next possession and drain a 3-pointer from the top of the key, probably the signature shot of his career, to become the new record-holder with 1,956 points. Mason is believed to be the first person in Division II history to break his father's record for career points.
