CLERMONT, Fla. – After taking a scheduled day off to enjoy the warm Florida weather, the Edinboro softball team went 1-1 in their second day of the PFX Spring Games. The Fighting Scots fell to No. 16 Indianapolis 8-4, but defeated Saint Michael's 1-0. Edinboro is now 2-7, while the Greyhounds are 18-4 and the Purple Knights are 2-6.
The Scots will return to the mound tomorrow against Silver Lake (0-6) at 1 p.m.
GAME 1 – No. 16 Indianapolis 8, Edinboro 4
16th-ranked Indianapolis jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, scoring two runs off back-to-back fielding errors. However, Edinboro responded with three earned runs in the top of the second. Victoria Allocco started the inning by hitting a double to right center. Ashley Pearson reached base on a hit by Grehounds freshman pitcher Haylie Foster. Cheyenne Bothun sent Allocco home on a RBI-single, which also advanced Pearson to third base. Olivia Jankowski was the fifth Fighting Scot batter in the inning. While she was at-bat, Bothun moved up to third base on a passed ball. That allowed Pearson to knot the game at 2-2. Jankowski grounded out to second, but she added an RBI with Bothun giving Edinboro a 3-2 lead.
The Fighting Scots had three hits in the inning. Yet, the Greyhound defense held Edinboro to two more hits over the final four innings. Additionally, they outscored Edinboro 5-0 over the final five innings.
Edinboro had the base loaded with two outs in the top of the seventh. Maycee Shumaker was hit by a pitch, and that allowed Jankowski to advance home, cutting the deficit in half at 8-4. Allocco flied out to Brooke Montgomery on the next at-bat to end the game.
Kerri Stevens took the loss for Edinboro, pitching in 5.0 innings with six strikeouts, one walk and two errors. Foster allowed six hits, had four errors and hit four Edinboro batters, improving to 6-0 on the year. Katelyn Fisher picked up her first save of the year.

Danna Heh and Allocco each led Edinboro with two hits apiece. Heh went 2-of-3 for two singles, while Allocco had a double and a single.
GAME 2 – Edinboro 1, Saint Michael's 0
Amanda Metz pitched all seven innings against Saint Michael's, allowing three hits and struck out five batters in a 1-0 victory over the Purple Knights.
The Fighting Scots scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Danna Heh started the inning by hitting a single to shortstop. She then stole second when Lauren Gierlak was up to bat. After Gierlak and Victoria Allocco both struck out swinging, Roni Lipinski walked and Heh advanced to third on a passed ball. Cheyenne Bothun then singled to shortstop, allowing Heh to score.
Edinboro connected on two of its five its in the fourth inning, as it picked up its second win of the season and first win in the PFX Spring Games.
Heh had two of Edinboro's hits and Lipinski walked twice in the contest. Saint Michael's shortstop Hayley Craddock was 60-feet away from scoring the first run of the game in the top of the first. It was the only time a Purple Knight reached third base in the game.
Danielle Brown fell to 2-3 for Saint Michael's.
