  • The Short Story: Edinboro attempted nine corner kicks and outshot 14th-ranked Kutztown, 9-8, in the second half, but the Golden Bears scored two goals in the opening 32 minutes and the Fighting Scots fell on the road, 2-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Kutztown's Erica Monte Carlo played the ball downfield to Emily Zwiercan for an early 1-0 lead at 10:07. 
  • The Golden Bears went up 2-0 at 31:50. Rachel Rizzo headed in a cross from Zwiercan for her first goal of the season. 
  • Freshman Jessica Frank nearly scored her first career goal at 87:14, but her shot hit the post.  
GAME NOTES  
  • Kutztown outshot Edinboro 19-13 and held a 13-8 advantage in shots on goal, but the Fighting Scots edged the Golden Bears in shots in the second half, 9-8.  
  • The Fighting Scots attempted nine corner kicks in the second half, while Kutztown had zero. Edinboro led the Golden Bears in corner kicks, 10-1. 
  • Edinboro goalkeeper Anna Voelker made 11 saves, while Jenna Bracken collected eight shots.  
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE  
  • The all-time series between Edinboro and Kutztown is tied at 11-11-1.
  • Emily Zwiercan, the reigning PSAC Women's Soccer Athlete of the Year, leads Kutztown with five goals on the year. 
  • The Golden Bears are on a six-game winning streak, including three straight victories at home. They have also six shutouts and have allowed only two goals this season. Over the last three seasons, Kutztown is 24-3 at Keystone Field.
UP NEXT
  • Edinboro concludes its four-game road trip on Wednesday, September 26, as they head to Mercyhurst (3-3-1) at 1:30 p.m.
  • The Lakers are led by first-year head coach Jon Arlet. A native of Erie and a graduate of McDowell High School, Arlet comes to Mercyhurst after serving two years as the head coach at Bethany, where he compiled a 9-26-1 overall record.
  • Mercyhurst is 6-0-2 at home, dating back to last season.
  • Edinboro is 7-0-2 in their last nine games against the Lakers.
