Edinboro Breaks Two Pool Records in 130-125 Loss at Gannon

  • The Short Story: Two pool records at Gannon's Carneval Athletic Pavilion Pool were broken by Edinboro's 200-yard Freestyle and Medley Relay teams. The outcome of Friday's meet came down to the final event, the 200-yard Freestyle Relay. Down 114-126, Casey Tokarski, Kaitlyn Daiger, Nicole Kadlecik, and Katelyn Kopacko anchored the Fighting Scots to first place with a time of 1:39.20 and 11 points. But the Lady Knights captured the remaining six available points with two other relay teams capturing second and third place, respectively. The Fighting Scot were victorious in six events, collecting 21 medals overall, and had 13 PSAC Championship qualifying times.

EVENT NOTES
  • The Fighting Scots set two pool records in both relay events. Edinboro opened the night competing in the 200-yard Medley Relay. The group composed of Casey Tokarski, Yana Miletska, Kaitlyn Daiger, and Katelyn Kopacko clinched first place with a near three-second cushion at 1:49.11. Nicole Kadlecik would go onto join Daiger, Kopacko, and Tokarski in the final event of the evening, the 200-yard Freestyle Relay. They finished with a winning time of 1:39.20, a difference of +1.14 between first and second place.
  • In addition to being a leg of the 200-yard Medley Relay team, Miletska was responsible for Edinboro's three first-place finishes in individual events. She was victorious in the 100-yard Breasstroke (1:07.40), 200-yard Breaststroke (2:27.15), and the 200-yard IM (2:13.47).
  • The Fighting Scots gathered 21 medals across 15 events.
  • Head coach Chris Rhodes was pleased with the men and women's swimming teams performances against the Knights. "(We performed) extremely well, Rhodes said. "Even though we lost, I was so excited on how we swam."
  • Miletska qualified for the PSAC Championships in three events, while Kopacko, LaBovick, and Roscoe each met qualifying standards in two events.
UP NEXT
  • Edinboro hosts Clarion on Senior Day. The Fighting Scots final dual of the regular season is scheduled for Friday, January 25 at 6:00 p.m. at the McComb Natatorium.
