  • Location:  Greensburg, Pa. – Offutt Field
  • The Short Story:  Edinboro denied Seton Hill the opportunity to sweep Erie county thanks to an outstanding defensive effort and a season-high 37 points. Over the last two weeks, the Griffins had defeated Gannon and Mercyhurst. The Fighting Scots held the Griffins to 279 total yards while forcing five turnovers and sacking Seton Hill quarterbacks four times. The defense put points on the board for the fourth time this year, as Aaron Rogers returned an interception 55 yards for six points. Seton Hill would take an early 7-0 lead, but Edinboro scored 17 points in the second quarter and pulled away with 17 more markers in the final stanza. CJ Reyes'Diggs scored on runs of 1 and 16 yards, and Vicente Arriagada made three field goals (22, 21, and 23 yards) for the third time in four weeks. Edinboro's other score came on a two-yard run by Levi Becker.
GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Edinboro would spot Seton Hill a 7-0 as the Griffins drove 75 yards on nine plays on their first possession. Ryan Barabe would complete four passes for 42 yards, the last 13 yards to Matthew Williams for the first score of the game. That came at 9:48 to give Seton Hill a 7-0 lead.
  • Edinboro would answer with the next 17 points, all in the second quarter. The Fighting Scots knotted the score at 7-7 early in the second quarter with a five-play, 72-yard march. The score came after Hunter Miller missed a 45-yard field goal that would have given the Griffins a 10-0 lead. Levi Becker hooked up with Ta'Nauz Gregory on a 35-yard pass on the first play of the drive, and Becker then found Kahlil Jackson for a 25-yard gain down to the SHU 1 on a 2nd-and-14 play. CJ Reyes-Diggs scored on the next play, the first touchdown the freshman's career. Vicente Arriagada's initial extra point attempt was blocked, but Seton Hill was called for a personal foul. The redshirt freshman then converted on the first of four PATs to tie the score at 7-7 with 10:17 left in the second quarter.
  • The Fighting Scots would take the lead for good less than five minutes later after the first of five Seton hill turnovers. Barabe's pass was intercepted by freshman Saige Ley. The linebacker returned his first career pickoff 37 yards to the one. Edinboro was unable to punch the ball in the end zone, but Arriagada came in and booted a 22-yard field goal for a 10-7 lead with 5:41 left in the half.
  • Another Seton Hill turnover led to Edinboro's second touchdown of the afternoon. Joshua Boyd first interception as a Fighting Scot, off a Chris Jones' pass, was returned 18 yards to the SHU 42 with 1:53 remaining in the half. Becker would throw an interception on the first play, but Seton Hill was called for a holding penalty, negating the interception and giving Edinboro a first down.  On the next play, Becker found Andre Dowdell Jr. for 17 yards to the 15. A pass interference call against the Griffins would give the Scots the ball at the two, and Becker scored his first career rushing touchdown on a two-yard run with 47 seconds left in the half.
  • The two teams would trade field goals in the third quarter. After a pair of punts, Seton Hill drove 62 yards on 10 plays, with Miller coming in and converting on a 32-yard field goal with 7:15 left in the third quarter.
  • Edinboro took the ensuing kickoff and went 58 yards on 11 plays, converting twice on third down. Becker connected on another big strike with Dowdell, this one covering 30 yards, to the SHU 20. The pair then combined on a 13-yard gain on 3rd-and-6 for a first down at the SHU 3. The Scots would have to settle for a 21-yard field goal by Arriagada to boost the advantage to 20-10 with 1:48 left in the period.
  • Any comeback hopes by Seton Hill were dashed by the Edinboro defense in the fourth quarter, as the Fighting Scots tacked on 17 more points in the period. The first three points came courtesy of a big defensive stand, as Connor Kelly and Gilberto Ortiz II threw Michael Valentine for a two-yard loss on a 4th-and-2 play at the EU 43.
  • Edinboro took over and drove as far as the SHU 2 before Arriagada kicked his third field goal of the game, this one from 23 yards out with 9:01 left in the game. The three-pointer capped an 11-play, 49-yard march that featured three Becker passes to Dowdell covering 27 yards, and two more Gregory for 35 yards. Edinboro now led 23-10.
  • Four plays later, Edinboro was back in the end zone, this score courtesy of the Boro defense. The Griffins tried a trick play with JaiQuawn McGriff throwing a halfback option pass. Cornerback Aaron Rogers read the play perfectly, leaping high for the interception and returning it 55 yards for a touchdown. With 8:08 remaining,  Edinboro held a 30-10 lead.
  • The Fighting Scots would score an insurance touchdown after the Griffins turned the ball over on downs at their own 27 yard line. Reyes-Diggs burst through the middle of the line to score his second touchdown of the game, this one from 16 yards out, with 2:13 left to play.
