Rodriguez Eliminated by Sixth-Seed Courtney at Las Vegas Invitational

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Edinboro's first journey to the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational under second-year head coach Matt Hill came to an end on Saturday morning with Lucas Rodriguez losing his consolation round match. The Las Vegas Convention Center South Hall hosted the prestigious event

Competing at 125 lbs., Rodriguez lost his first match but proceeded to pick up a pair of wins in the consolation bracket to become the lone Fighting Scot to reach Saturday's third session.

Rodriguez was paired with sixth-seed Brandon Courtney of Arizona State in the consolation round of 8 #2. The Sun Devil would rehister seven takedowns to eliminate Rodriguez by a 19-5 major decision. Rodriguez departs Sin City with a 9-4 record.

The Fighting Scots will take a break for final exams before returning to the mat on Friday, December 20. They will host George Mason in a Mid-American Conference dual at 12 noon at the Zafirovski Sports & Recreation Dome.
