EDINBORO, Pa. – Edinboro men's wrestling added Craig "Boomer" Fechko as the program's assistant coach on Monday.
Fechko joins the Scots after serving as Men's Wrestling Associate Head Coach at John Carroll in 2025-26.
"I'm very excited to have Boomer Fechko join our staff here at Edinboro," said head coach
Matt Hill. "Boomer is a highly experienced coach and a former head coach who brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and insight to the table. He has a proven ability to develop student-athletes and elevate programs. I'm truly looking forward to watching him get to work and help lead Edinboro Wrestling to new heights in the MAC and on the national stage. Boomer is an outstanding addition to our staff."
Prior to his time at John Caroll, Fechko served as a head coach at Lake Erie College, guiding the Storm for three seasons. Fechko led the Storm to three strong campaigns.
Previously, Fechko served as the assistant wrestling coach at Cleveland State from 2018-2021.During the 2020-21 campaign, Fechko helped to steer the Vikings to two Mid-American Conference finalists, three National Qualifiers, third-highest team GPA in the country (highest ever), recruited and brought in a Senior National Champion, a State Champion, and two nationally ranked wrestlers. In 2019-20, CSU notched 7 placers at the MAC Championships, finishing in the top half of the team standings after being picked to finish last in the coaches' rankings.
Fechko is not stranger to the MAC serving as the associate head coach at Buffalo in the 2017-18. He served two seasons as an assistant coach with the Bulls prior to his promotion to associate head coach. He worked as the recruiting coordinator and the team's academic liaison, while playing a key role with all aspects of the program. Fechko helped the team's 133-pounder become just the fifth wrestler in Buffalo history to qualify for the NCAA Championships on three occasions. He also spent a season at Bloomsburg as a volunteer assistant in a season where the Huskies sent six wrestlers to the NCAA Championships.
"I want to thank Coach Hill for this opportunity," said Fechko. "I can't wait to get to campus and start working with the guys. The culture Coach Hill has developed is something I want to be part of. It's time to get to work!"
