URBANA-CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team dropped their final two games at the University of Illinois Tournament on Saturday falling to Alabama and Missouri. The game against the Tigers was the second in two days for the Fighting Scots.
The Fighting Scots return to the court when they host the Boro Intercollegiate Tournament on February 22-23. Edinboro welcomes in Wisconsin-Whitewater, Auburn, Missouri, and Illinois. They will kick off the tournament on Friday, February 22 at 9:00 a.m. against Wisconsin-Whitewater. All games will be played inside Crawford Gym.
Alabama 55, Edinboro 47
Both teams scored 25 points in the first half as the Fighting Scots held a better field goal percentage, leading the Crimson Tide, 42%-39%. In the second half, Alabama outscored Edinboro 30-22 to pull away for the 55-47 win. Freshman
Jacob Spillers had a team-high 21 points. It was the tenth straight game that Spillers reached double-figure points.
Kevin Atherley led Edinboro with 13 rebounds including 10 defensive boards. For the game, the Fighting Scots led the Crimson Tide in rebounds, 35-27.
Missouri 52, Edinboro 49
Playing for the second time in as many games, the Missouri Tigers picked up their second win over the Fighting Scots this season. Trailing 23-16 at halftime, the Fighting Scots outscored Alabama 30-22 in the second half but fell 52-49. Both
Chayse Wolf and
Kevin Atherley recorded double-doubles in the loss. Wolf had 13 points and 12 rebounds while Atherley had 20 points and 12 rebounds. It marked the 10
th double-double of the season for Atherley and fourth for Wolf. For the game, Edinboro led the Tigers rebounds (32-26), assists (20-18), and points in the paint (24-20).
