INDIANA, PA. -- The Edinboro women's tennis team dropped a 5-1 PSAC contest at Indiana(Pa.) on Tuesday afternoon. Neither team played with a full roster as the Crimson Hawks only sent out four players with the Fighting Scots sending out five. IUP was able to come away the doubles point and won at 1-4 singles to earn the win. Edinboro moves to 2-16 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC while IUP improved to 8-10 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC.
Both teams did not send out a number three doubles team, so the doubles point would be decided with who won both of the top two matches. The Crimson Hawks picked up 6-0 and 6-1 wins to move ahead in the team score heading into singles.
Hannah Brentar picked up a win by default at number five singles after the Crimson Hawks did not have a fifth player. However, IUP picked up straight sets wins at the top four spots to clinch the match.
Tatiana Batalla Trabal had a close match at number two singles dropping the first set 6-3 before forcing a tiebreak, falling 7-6 (8-6) in the second set.Â
Edinboro returns to the court on Friday, April 19 when they host Mercyhurst. The Fighting Scots will host their Senior Day against the Lakers in their final home match of the season. All the action gets underway at 11:00 a.m.
