SERIES HISTORY
  • All-Time Series: Gannon leads 15-8-4
  • Last Meeting: September 5, 2018: Gannon 2, Edinboro 1
  • How It Happened: After limited action early in the first half, Edinboro grabbed a 1-0 lead at 22:24 on a goal by Danielle Chatten, assisted by Cameron Bujnoski. The Lady Knights needed just 18 seconds to knot the score at 1-1 on a goal by Taylor Lewis. Hannah Hays would account for the game-winning goal at 74:57. Gannon ended with a 12-6 advantage in shots. 
MATCH STORYLINES
  • Edinboro continues rivalry week with a match against Gannon. Earlier in the week the Fighting Scots handed Mercyhurst a 2-1 defeat.
  • The win over Mercyhurst extended Edinboro's winning streak to four straight games. That is the longest winning streak since 2016, when the Fighting Scots opened the season with five straight wins.       
  • The Fighting Scots come in with a 4-2-0 record overall and are now 4-0-0 in the PSAC West. The Mercyhurst win came courtesy of goals by Brittnie Spithaler and Danielle Chatten. The Lakers would make things interesting with a goal in the 86th minute, but Anna Voelker was up to the challenge in goal. She would finish with four saves.      
  • Gannon snapped a two-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over Cal U on Wednesday. That victory evened the Lady Knights at 3-3-0 overall and boosted their PSAC West ledger to 2-3-0.   
  • The Fighting Scots were picked to finish sixth in the PSAC West, while Gannon was voted second behind Slippery Rock. With the new divisional format, the teams will meet twice this year.
  • Five different players have scored goals for Edinboro, with Jessica Frank  and Brittnie Spithaler leading the way with three apiece. Rebecca Manns, and Sidney Dobbins have two apiece, while Danielle Chatten has a goal and a team-high four assists. Chatten has moved into 13th place in career scoring with 50 points. Sophomore Anna Voelker has been in goal for every minute and has a 1.50 GAA.
  • Megan McCartney and Emily Cekella have scored three goals each to lead Gannon. In fact, they have accounted for six of Gannon's 10 goals. Sophomore kennedy Solymosi owns a 1.66 GAA in goal.
  • Edinboro posted a 6-11-0 finish a year ago while fielding a young squad. Head coach Gary Kagiavas welcomes back nine starters for his 24th season as head coach.  Kagiavas has a 222-180-37 record, all as Edinboro's only head coach. The Fighting Scots have qualified for the PSAC Playoffs 11 times, with seven of those in the last nine years. Entering the season, Kagiavas ranked 24th among active Division II coaches in victories. In addition, he ranks second in wins among PSAC women's soccer coaches, exceeded only by West Chester's Betsy Anne Kempf-Townsley with 332 wins.  He has been selected the PSAC Coach of the Year three times (2001, '05, '07).
  • Gannon holds a 15-8-4 lead in the all-time series and has won the last three meetings. Edinboro last won in the magical 2015 campaign, beating the nationally-ranked Lady Knights twive in the postseason.

  • Edijnboro continues a stretch of four straight home contests, hosting preseason Western Division favorite Slippery Rock on Wednesday, October 2. The match gets underway at 6 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium.
