Ancewicz and Spaulding Place at Edinboro Open

EDINBORO, Pa. - The Edinboro wrestling team hosted the annual Edinboro Open today in the Mike S. Zafirovski Sports & Recreation Dome. Zach Ancewicz placed fifth while Jon Spaulding placed sixth. The Fighting Scots had eleven wrestlers competing in the open.  
 
Ancewicz lost his first match to come back in the consolation round and place fifth. During the fifth place match, Ancewicz was tied 1-1 in the third period against Lehigh's Elijah Jones. With 17 seconds left, Ancewicz scored a takedown to win 3-1, placing fifth. He now has a record of 17-4. 
 
Jon Spaulding was the lone regular to compete in the Edinboro Open. Spaulding lost his first match but proceeded to pick up three wins in the consolation bracket. He had to medical forfeited his last match against Ohio State's Gavin Hoffman. Spaulding placed sixth and has a record of 21-7. 
 
The Fighting Scots are back in action on February 6 at Lock Haven.
