Edinboro Wins Third Straight with 4-3 Win at Division I Niagara

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – The Edinboro men's tennis team extended its winning streak to three matches in a row on Sunday with a 4-3 win at Division I Niagara. The match was played at Village Glen Tennis Courts in Williamsville, N.Y.  The Fighting Scots improved to 4-1 on the season, while Niagara is now 3-5.  
 
Edinboro would win two of the three doubles matches to gain the point in doubles play and take a 1-0 lead into singles action. Ruben Acuna and Billy Chang combined for a 6-3 win at number two doubles, and Kaio Sacchi and Jorge Benette won at number three doubles, 6-4.
 
The Fighting Scots and Purple Eagles would split the six singles matches, with Chang winning the clinching fourth point with a grinding 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 win over William Gothlin at number five singles.
 
Nils Plutat improved to 13-2 in singles play with a 6-2, 6-3 win at number one singles. Tommy Hsu returned to the lineup after sitting out the last match vs. Roberts Wesleyan and came away with a 7-6, 6-2 win at number two singles.       
 
Edinboro returns to action on Friday, February 21 hosting Charleston(WV). It's a key early season Atlantic Region match, with Edinboro ranked third in the ITA Atlantic Region preseason poll and Charleston fifth.
