Fighting Scots Stay Up Late for 4-1 Win over Charleston

ERIE, Pa. – The Edinboro men's tennis team picked up a big regional win in a late night match that ended after midnight at the Westwood Racquet Club on Friday night. The Fighting Scots defeated Charleston(WV), 4-1.
 
Edinboro improved to 5-1 while winning for the fourth straight time. Charleston is now 2-1. Edinboro is ranked third in the ITA Atlantic Region rankings while Charleston is fifth.
 
Charleston would take a 1-0 lead with wins in the first and third doubles matches. The second doubles match would go unfinished.
 
The Fighting Scots would rally with wins in four singles matches. Nils Plutat won his first set 7-6 and was up 4-0 when Lakeman retired. Tommy Hsu and Kaio Sacchi won by identical 7-6, 6-3 scores at number two and three singles. Billy Chang prevailed 6-2, 6-4 at number five singles. The other two singles matches went unfinished.
 
Edinboro returns to action on March 7 at Barton, where the Fighting Scots will face former head coach Lee Underwood. The match signals the start of their spring trip.
