The Edinboro men's tennis program continued its strong tradition of academic and athletic excellence during the 2025–2026 season, with
Leon Grassnickel and
Arsen Tabaldyev earning CSC Academic All-District honors.
The distinction, awarded by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top NCAA Division II student-athletes for their achievements in both the classroom and competition. Grassnickel and Tabaldyev now advance to the Academic All-America ballot, further highlighting their impressive seasons.
Grassnickel, a junior from Brunsbuettel, Germany, was a foundational piece of Edinboro's success throughout the year. Competing at the top of the lineup, he earned First Team All-PSAC honors in singles and doubles, forming one of the conference's most formidable pairs alongside
Emiel Tidman. His consistent play and leadership helped guide the Fighting Scots to one of their most successful seasons in recent history.
Edinboro reached the PSAC Championship match, finishing as the conference runner-up after a strong postseason run. In the title match against Jefferson, Grassnickel and Tidman delivered a key 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles as the Scots claimed the doubles point. Despite falling short in singles play, the team's performance underscored its competitiveness among the conference elite.
Tabaldyev, a sophomore from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, distinguished himself as both a standout competitor and exceptional student. In addition to his Academic All-District selection, he was named the 2026 PSAC Champion Scholar Award winner. Tabaldyev maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA through 77 credits as an environmental science major, earning recognition as the top academic performer among all competitors at the PSAC Championship site.
On the court, Tabaldyev contributed key victories during Edinboro's postseason run, including a singles win in the Scots' 4-2 semifinal victory over Chestnut Hill. His steady play complemented a deep lineup that also featured multiple All-Conference performers.
