The Edinboro men's tennis team turned in an impressive 2025–2026 season, highlighted by multiple Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) honors and a runner-up finish in the conference championship.
Leading the way for the Fighting Scots,
Leon Grassnickel and
Fabricio Sosa Pons earned First Team All-Conference recognition in singles play. Grassnickel also teamed with fellow standout
Emiel Tidman to secure a spot on the First Team doubles list, further underscoring Edinboro's strength at the top of its lineup. Their consistent performances throughout the season helped position the Scots among the conference's elite.
Sosa Pons delivered one of the most impactful individual campaigns for Edinboro. Earlier in April, he was named PSAC Athlete of the Week after going undefeated in both singles and doubles during conference victories over Kutztown and Bloomsburg. His contributions proved vital in the Scots' late-season surge and eventual postseason run.
Edinboro's success culminated in a trip to the PSAC Championship match, where the Scots fell 4-1 to top-seeded Jefferson. Despite the loss, Edinboro opened the contest strongly by claiming the doubles point. Grassnickel and Tidman secured a 6-3 victory at the top spot, while Sosa Pons and
Duarte Correia matched the effort with a 6-3 win at number three doubles.
Jefferson responded in singles play, winning four straight matches to clinch the title. Grassnickel, Aresen Tabaldykev,
Hassan Ammar, and Correia each battled but ultimately could not hold off the Rams' momentum.
The Scots' championship appearance came after a hard-fought 4-2 semifinal victory over Chestnut Hill. Edinboro again captured the doubles point and received key singles wins from Sosa Pons,
Arsen Tabaldyev, and
Hassan Ammar, with Ammar clinching the match in straight sets.
Across the league, Chestnut Hill's Noah Cutting was named PSAC Athlete of the Year, Bloomsburg's Jack Seaborn earned Freshman of the Year honors, and Jefferson's Fred Perrin was recognized as Coach of the Year.
