Sral, Teller pace Fighting Scots vs. Dominican, Trevecca Nazarene

JAN PHYL VILLAGE, Fl. – Freshman Macy Sral turned in the best effort in the circle for the Edinboro softball team on its trip to Florida, but it wasn't enough as the Fighting Scots suffered a 6-2 loss to Dominican. That loss was followed by a 7-3 defeat to a strong Trevecca Nazarene team. The youthful Edinboro squad is now 0-8.

Edinboro is scheduled to play twice on Friday. In the opening contest, the Fighting Scots will face Northern State at 1:30 p.m. That's followed by a 3:45 p.m. contest vs. New York Tech.

DOMINICAN 6, EDINBORO 2
Macy Sral tossed five innings for the Fighting Scots, allowing one unearned run on two hits, with two walks and four strikeouts. The freshman would leave with a 2-1 lead, but Dominican would tie the game with a run in the sixth, then scored four more runs in the top of the seventh. The big blow was a three-run homer by Alyssa Seiss. Edinboro opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first. Both came on a two-run double by Jolene Teller. Teller would add a single as she had two of Edinboro's four hits. Maya Kozup and Kiersten Hoffman added singles. Dominican is now 6-3.

TREVECCA NAZARENE 7, EDINBORO 3
The Fighting Scots pounded out nine hits against a Trevecca Nazarene team that improved to 15-3, but they were unable to overcome a five-run first inning for the Trojans.  Edinboro would score single runs in each of the first three innings to close to 5-3, but the Trojans scored a run in the third and another in the fourth. Kiersten Hoffman hit her second home run for Edinboro. Jolene Teller and Shannon Gilbert each went 3-for-3, with Gilbert driving in a run with a single in the third.
