Boro Drops Contests to Nyack, Wayne State(Neb.) on Day Two of Florida Trip

JAN PHYL VILLAGE, Fl. – The Edinboro softball team dropped a pair of games on Monday to fall to 0-4 in the early stages of their southern trip. The Fighting Scots opened the day with a 9-1 loss to Nyack in six innings, then dropped an 11-3 decision to Wayne State(Neb.) in five innings in the nightcap.

The Fighting Scots are scheduled to play twice on Tuesday. They open the day at 9:15 a.m. against Ohio Dominican, followed by an 11:15 a.m. contest vs. Minnesota State Moorhead.
 
NYACK 9, EDINBORO 1 (6 innings)
The Fighting Scots were limited to a pair of hits while falling to 0-3. Nyack would take a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, and would add three more runs in the top of the third on a three-run homer by Kalia Quick. The Warriors scored twice in the top of the fifth, and Quick hit her second home run of the day, a two-run shot, in the sixth. Edinboro scored its lone run in the bottom of the sixth. Camryn Billig opened the frame with a single to left center, the freshman's first career hit, and moved up on a base hit by Jolene Teller. Billig would score with two outs on an error. Freshman Dylan Claycomb went the first 4 1/3 innings while dropping to 0-2. Nyack is now 1-2.
 
WAYNE STATE (NEB.) 11, EDINBORO 3 (5 innings)
Three costly errors led to seven unearned runs for Wayne State, five of those in a six-run fifth inning that ended the game two innings early. The Wildcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a two-run homer by Molli Vasa and a solo shot by Ashley Hernandez, who hit her sixth of the season. Edinboro countered with a three-run fourth inning to tie the score at 3-3. Mackenzie Quider drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly, and Maya Kozup drove in a run with a ground out. Kiersten Hoffman tied the score with a home run, the first of the freshman's career. Unfortunately, Wayne State answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning for a 5-3 lead, then tacked on six runs in the fifth. Edinboro would finish with four hits. Macy Sral went the first 4 2/3 innings while falling to 0-2. Wayne State is now 7-12.
