EDINBORO, PA - Edinboro (8-7) fell to a 5-0 loss against Slippery Rock, four second half goals made sure of the win for Slippery Rock (12-3-2) after a tightly contested first half.
Edinboro were able to hold off much of Slippery Rock's pressure in the first 20 minutes. The Fighting Scots saw some of their own possession result in half chances at The Rock goal towards the latter stages. The breakthrough for Slippery Rock came just before the halftime whistle, Rachel Edge with an assured finish, assisted by Sydney Patrick.
Slippery Rock were able to get a two goal lead just two minutes into the second period. A free-kick routine that resulted in a shot on goal by Katy Ericson, found its way into the back of the net after a wicked deflection off an Edinboro defender.
The Fighting Scots continued to press and fight for possession trying to find the goal to get back into the game. Slippery Rock withstood the pressure and counterattacked at pace from an Edinboro corner, Ashley Rea was able to finish with a low shot to the bottom left corner, assisted by Juilia Mascaro.
Two more Slippery Rock goals came late as Edinboro pushed forward. The fourth goal coming from Rachel Edge for her second of the game from the penalty spot. The final goal of the game was scored by Kayla Swope in a one vs one situation, assisted on a through ball by Rachel Edge.
Edinboro played hard to the end, all 11 seniors were celebrated before the game with their family and friends in attendance. Edinboro closes out their home season next Wednesday, Nov. 3, Kickoff 6 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium when they take on Pitt-Johnstown.
