EDINBORO, PA- With dominant performances in the last three games for Edinboro, outside hitter Bella Burrelli has been named PSAC West Volleyball Athlete of the Week.

Edinboro opened the week with three games on the schedule and would go onto win all of them. The Fighting Scots won in three sets over Clarion and Indiana (Pa.). In their previous game they battled with a tough Pitt-Johnstown team and won in 5 sets 25-17, 25-20, 13-25, 21-25, 15-9.

The 6-foot outside hitter led Edinboro in kills in all three of their matches and had 10 or more kills in those matches. She opened the week with 14 kills and a .263 hitting percentage in three sets against Clarion along with 12 digs. Next came another 14 kills and a .351 hitting percentage against IUP, along with 19 digs and two blocks. In the final game, Burrelli posted a season-high 18 kills against Pitt Johnstown, adding 21 digs and two more blocks.

Burrelli finished the week with a team-leading 46 kills and tied for the team lead with 52 digs and four blocks. Burrelli is currently third in the PSAC with 4.02 kills per set. She now has 477 career kills, leaving her 23 kills short of 500 career kills.

The junior outside hitter has played an effective role in Edinboro's success so far this season. The Fighting Scots currently have won seven straight and will be back in action Tuesday Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. when they travel to Erie to match up with Gannon University. Burrelli and her Edinboro teammates will look to remain efficient and stick to the top of the standings.
