Edinboro, Pa. – With a 3-0 victory over Seton Hill, the Edinboro volleyball team clinched a home playoff game when the PSAC Championship Tournament begins next week.
Trailing 9-8 in the opening set, the Fighting Scots used two Bella Burelli kills and three
Alicia Eldredge service aces to pull ahead 13-9. The Griffins would battle back and tie the score 23-23, before an
Abby Monn kill and
Carly Pry service ace gave the Scots a 25-23 set victory.
Facing set point in the second with Seton Hill up 24-21,
Natalie Pallone and Monn recorded kills in a run of four straight points to take a 25-24 lead. The Griffins regained a 26-25 advantage before Monn knotted the score 26-26.
Emelia Rowell closed out the set with back-to-back aces to take the second 28-26.
In third, the Griffins jumped out early to an 8-6 advantage. Edinboro reeled off seven straight points to grab a 13-8 lead. Seton Hill pulled back within one, 16-15, but another 5-0 run gave the Scots a 21-15 advantage that they carried to a 25-21 third set win.
Burrelli paced the Edinboro attack with 16 kills on a .270 hitting percentage. She also tallied five digs. Eldredge finished with 32 assists, three service aces and 13 digs.
Monn notched eight kills and 12 digs. Pry finished the night with three aces and six digs.
The Scots improved to 20-5 on the season and 12-3 in the PSAC West. It marks the first time since 2017 that Edinboro has reached the 20-win mark.
Edinboro closes out the regular season on Saturday when they take on Slippery Rock at 1 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse.
