Men’s Basketball Travels to Lake Erie College Tuesday

Painesville, Ohio - After a last second win at home with a limited roster, the Edinboro men's basketball team will travel to Lake Erie College on Tuesday for a 3 p.m. tip, following a 10-day break from action.

Three games in

Three games have been checked off the schedule so far for the Fighting Scots as they hold a steady                           (2-1) record. Edinboro dropped their first game of the season to Fairmont State University and have remained in the winner's column since that point. The Scots two wins have been both gone down to the wire. Edinboro defeated Bluefield State College in overtime 113-104, and then turned around and won their home opener over Roberts Wesleyan College 83-82 with a last-second shot.

Last time out

Edinboro's previous game was played over a week ago when they hosted Roberts Wesleyan at home. The Scots only had ten active players on the roster for the home opener, yet they were still able to prevail. Deontae Robertson hit a three-point dagger with less than ten seconds left to seal the victory for Edinboro.

The game was a battle of lead changes as neither team ever built up a lead more than seven. Edinboro was down 46-47 at the half, and looked to capitalize in the final 20 minutes of play. Two monster dunks from Robertson and Dominique Keyes would swing the momentum into the Scots favor. Edinboro's defense made some clutch plays late when it mattered. A forced turnover would set up a game-winner from Robertson, followed by a last-second block by Keyes to close out the game.

Kierell Green led Edinboro recording a double-double with a game-high 24 points and 11 rebounds. He added three steals and one block.

Roberton's game winning shot allowed him to finish with 23 points and five rebounds, along with four assists and two blocks.

Jaryn Simpson added 18 points and a team-high five assists. Keyes grabbed 10 rebounds, along with six points and a game-high three blocks.

The storm defeated Clarion and Thiel by a combined 59 points.

In their previous match up with Salem, the two teams went down to the wire as Lake Erie won a close one in overtime 95-92. This was a game in which Lake Erie was losing by 19 points at the half. A layup by Caleb Piks sent the game to overtime. In overtime, the Storm controlled the momentum and finished off the comeback win.

Lake Erie is led by a balanced scoring offense, with four players averaging double-digit points. Freshman Jonny Manning averages a team-high 14.0 points per game.
