EDINBORO, PA - Edinboro (1-2) began their first dual meet of the season against Bloomsburg (1-2) where The Huskies took the win 115-87. The Fighting Scots then traveled to Allegheny (1-2-1) where they were victorious 133-125.
The 200-yard medley saw Leia Ross, Paige Smith, Stephanie Sipple and Makayla Scheu take victory against Allegheny with a time of 1:51.58. The team of Leia Ross, Lara De Carne, Hannah Brewer and Maddy Cordial placed second against Bloomsburg with a time of 1:53.96.
Paige Smith placed first comfortably in the 1000-yard freestyle against Allegheny with a time of 11:09.45. Stephanie Sipple was a first place winner against Bloomsburg with a time of 11:02.09 again a qualifying time for the PSAC's.
The 200-yard freestyle saw Paige Smith and Avery Zuk finish first and third respectively against Bloomsburg. Paige finished at 1:59.10 which is a PSAC qualifying time, Avery finished at 2:04.11. Makayla Scheu placed second against Allegheny with a time of 2:03.33.
Paige Smith was again victorious in the 100-yard backstroke finishing at 1:03.40 against Allegheny, with Avery Zuk placing third at 1:06.27. Leia Ross made sure of victory against Bloomsburg finishing with a PSAC qualifying time of 59.67.
Makayle Scheu achieved a PSAC qualifying time of 24.74 against Bloomsburg in the 50-yard freestyle to place second in the race.
Stephanie Sipple placed first in the 200-yard butterfly against Allegheny at a time of 2:11.87. Stephanie was also victorious in the 100-yard butterfly against Bloomsburg with a PSAC qualifying time of 52.90. The Freshman swimmer was also a first place winner in the 500-yard freestyle against Allegheny touching the board at 5:27.80, as well as second place against Bloomsburg which was won by Paige Smith at a PSAC qualifying time of 5:21.56.
In the 100-yard butterfly against Allegheny Makayla Scheu took the victory with a time of 1:02.00, followed in second by Leia Ross at 1:02.33.
Avery Zuk placed first against Allegheny where she finished at 56.96, placing third at 56.26 against Bloomsburg with Makayla Scheu just ahead of her at 54.79, both finishing with PSAC qualifying times.
The 200-yard IM saw Leia Ross take victory against Bloomsburg with a time of 2:1647 good enough for PSAC qualification. At Allegheny Edinboro took victory again with Paige Smith placing first and Stephanie Sipple in second.
Edinboro will now have time to prepare for the Wooster Invitational scheduled for Thursday, Dec 4-6 (Saturday) with time TBA in Wooster, OH at the Timken Natatorium.
