EDINBORO, Pa. – Macy Sral threw a complete game shutout in game one as the Fighting Scots downed the Gannon Golden Knights.
Redshirt freshman starting pitcher Macy Sral (Lilly, Pa./Penn Cambria) made quick work of the Gannon Golden Knights in the first inning, getting two groundouts and a strike out to end the frame.
Graduate student starting center fielder Lauren Gierlak (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) led off the second with a double into the left-center gap. Freshman starting second baseman Nya Adams (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) then walked before redshirt freshman starting first baseman Cheyenne Shughart (Shermansdale, Pa./West Perry) hit a shallow liner into right and Gierlak was thrown out at the plate.
Then a pass ball scored Adams and Boro led through an inning, 1-0.
Sral continued her strong start in the top of the second with a one-two-three inning including a strikeout of Kaity Stocker.
Starting freshman catcher Morgan Spitler (Lucas, Ohio/Lucas) walked to reach first, then stole second on pass ball. Starting freshman left fielder Lauren Bush (Painesville, Pa./Riverside) then singled down the right field line and scored Spitler and the Fighting Scots went ahead 2-0.
In the bottom of the third starting first baseman redshirt freshman Shughart lined a hit all the way to the right field fence and legged out a double.
The Knights got runners aboard in the fifth, and after a close play at first on a would-be double play were on first and third with two outs.
Gierlak lined a shot into the outfield in the bottom of the fifth, then stole second. Adams then sent the Gannon left fielder ranging to the warning track to make the play for the first out of the inning.
Gannon had two runners on again in the top of the sixth inning as Stocker stepped to the plate. Sral worked a tense two-strike count before throwing an eye-level fastball to strike out the dangerous hitter.
Shughart led off the bottom of the sixth with single to the warning track, and freshman Morgan Donnell (Waterford, Pa./Fort Leboeuf) checked in to pinch run and Mackenzie Quider (Sanborn, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) grounded out to advance Donnell to second. Kozup followed suit, advancing Donnell to third. She was plated by pinch hitter, redshirt freshman Lexi Klatt (Scottdale Pa./Southmoreland) who put the Scots up 3-0.
Adams made a remarkable diving stop at second to save a hit in the top of the seventh inning, she then fired it to first from her knees to get the out.
Edinboro won by a 3-0 final.

GAME TWO
Gannon got on board with a Megan Dietrick homer over the right field fence. A triple would score another urn and Gannon held the early 2-0 advantage.
In the top of the second Shughart mashed a pitch to the fence in left field and held up at second for the double. Gannon was able to stop the threat.
In the bottom of the third, Edinboro got a double from Donnell who was stranded to send the game into the fourth.
Pasquale made a diving stop and tagged second base with the ball in her glove to end the top of the fourth.
She then made her presence felt at the plate, lining a ball to the outfield for a single. She advanced to third when the Gannon first baseman made an error that allowed Quider to reach.
Maria Taliani hit a solo home run to begin the fifth.
Pasquale made another highlight reel stop for the first out of the inning, diving to stop the hard grounder and throwing hard to first for the out. She finished the inning with a putout.
In the sixth inning, Adams singled and stole second before being scored by a Pasquale single. Pasquale swiped second, Quider walked and Wagner pinch ran but got stranded.
Gannon struck again in the top of the seventh as Taliani hit her second home run of the contest.
Edinboro staged a rally in the bottom of the seventh as Krick reached on an error. A single by Gierlak scored Krick, before Pasquale launched one to the warning track that was caught for the final out of the contest.
Gannon took the final, 5-2.

Edinboro is scheduled to play IUPÂ in Indiana Friday at 2:30 and 4:30.
