Edinboro women's tennis battles Mercyhurst in PSAC showdown

ERIE, Pa. - The Edinboro women's tennis team headed indoors for a PSAC and Erie County showdown with the Mercyhurst Lakers. The match originally was scheduled to be played at McDowell High School, but due to weather, was moved to the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie. Mercyhurst was able to defeat Edinboro by a 5-2 score.

First-year Kaede Tada (Kashiwa, Japan) extended her win streak at number one singles to nine straight wins in straight sets, 6-3 6-2. The team also accepted a no contest at the number six singles position as Emily Cevera (Ashtabula, Ohio) accepted the victory for the Fighting Scots. The duo of Ana Nadai (Vitoria, Brazil/AF Americas) and Marina Zottele (Sao Jose Dos Campos) were narrowly defeated in the number two doubles match by a 6-4 count.

Edinboro will conclude their regular season next week on Thursday, April 22 in a home match against Daemen College. The contest is expected to begin at 3:00 p.m.
