EDINBORO, PA – The Fighting Scots (2-0) are on the road again this weekend with a trip to No. 14 Nationally ranked IUP (2-0). Both teams come into the game looking to continue their winning starts to the season. The game is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. Kickoff Saturday Sept. 11 at South Campus Field in Indiana PA.

  • The game was on a knife-edge until the final whistle with both teams competing throughout to get off to a winning start in PSAC play
  • Brittnie Spithaler continued her strong start to the season scoring the first goal of the game from the penalty spot on the 31-minute mark. This was after Reece Enochs had been brought down just inside the box as she was about to shoot on goal
  • Anna Voelker was again vital in the victory, registering eight saves. Two of which were in 1-on-1 situations
  •  Reece Enochs came close to doubling Edinboro's lead in the first half striking the post twice
  • Lexi Boyk also registered three shots in the game with two on target, after a strong performance both in attack and defending from the front
  • Annie Weimer was a defensive standout with important interceptions throughout, two coming in the penalty area stopping certain shots on goal
  • Morgan Wissner again found the back of the net for her second goal of the season, latching on to a loose pass back to Mercyhurst's keeper and slotting home
  • The second proved to be important in securing victory with Mercyhurst scoring late on from a free-kick that was redirected by their forward with one-minute remaining
IUP Scouting Report
  • IUP currently hold a 2-0 record with a 2-1 win in their last outing against Cal U, also a PSAC rival. This sees IUP currently ranked at #14 Nationally going into Saturday's game
  • Their last game saw a host of action with IUP registering 16 shots in the game with seven finding the target, forcing the Cal U goalie into four saves
  • The Crimson Hawks found themselves trailing after the first half after Julian Cruz of Cal U scored after 22-minutes of play
  • IUP found themselves level on the 65th minute mark after Hannah Scardina netted her first of the game, assisted in the box by Kristen Finnerty
  • The Sophomore forward was on the scoresheet six minutes later to secure the victory taking the ball from midfield, beating the Cal U defenders on the way to the important winning goal
