EDINBORO, PA – Edinboro Women's Volleyball travel to California, PA for its first competitive action since 2019. The long-awaited return of play is set to begin Friday Sept. 10 at 3 p.m. against Shippensburg University. Later that evening at 6 p.m. they will also face Frostburg University. The action-packed schedule begins again at 12:00 p.m. Sept. 11 against Bloomsburg University with the last game of the invitational against West Liberty the same day at 6 p.m.

Our Fighting Scots

• This season we have seven returners from 2019. Grace Vaeth, Bella Burrelli, Alicia Eldredge, Jessie Michel, Erica Sharp, Sally Sterkel and Bethany Miller all return and will be looking forward to getting back on the court
• Bella Burrelli looks to improve on an impressive 2.92 kill per set season which was second only to Cierah Jackson who graduated in 2020. Other notable returners in this category are also Erica Sharp and Sally Sterkel
• Erica Sharp finished her previous season with a .294 kill percentage and led the team in total blocks last time out
• Assist leader Alicia Eldredge is also back in action after an impressive last season
• We look forward to seeing the team back together with new additions looking set to make an impact for the season ahead

The Opposition

• First up the Fighting Scots play the Raiders. Shippensburg began season play at the Tony Banner Memorial Tournament, coming away with a 1-3 record in some tightly contested matches. Shippensburg were victorious in their opening game of the California Vulcan Invitational against Cal U with a 3-1 win. The matchup with Edinboro has seen results reversed in the past so we can expect a hard-fought battle to the end of this one
• Second game of the schedules sees the first ever meeting with Frostburg State University. They are currently 0-4 after playing in the IUP Invitational last weekend. They open play for this weekend against Cal U at 12:00 p.m. before our matchup later that evening
• Next Edinboro will be playing Bloomsburg University the following day. The previous two matchups have seen Edinboro come out victorious. Bloomsburg are currently 2-2 after wins against Felician University and Post University. Their two defeats have come against Saint Anselm College and Southern New Hampshire University.
• Last of the weekend is our matchup with West Liberty University. West Liberty have shown a solid start to their season with a 4-2 record. Previous play against our Fighting Scots has seen the Edinboro Women currently holding a 3-0 record
