Edinboro, Pa – The Edinboro men's basketball team was defeated by Seton Hill 84-76, at the Katherine Mabis McKenna Center on Monday night. The Fighting Scots now fall to (5-9) overall and (3-6) in PSAC play.
Edinboro sustained a strong lead for most of the game that was stripped from them when Seton Hill obtained their first lead of the half with just 1:48 to play in regulation. The Griffins wouldn't miss another shot including from the line, as they secured the win.
The Fighting Scots put together a strong first half performance shooting 50 percent from the field and connecting on four three-pointers. Late in the first half, Edinboro went on a 7-0 run that started with a three-pointer from Kameron King. The run accumulated an eight-point lead which was the Scots biggest lead of the game. At the break Edinboro was up 40-35.
At the start of the second half Edinboro began to turn up the pressure on defense. In a span of 90 seconds, the Fighting Scots came up with four blocks, including two from Deontae Robertson.
Later in the half at the 9:15 mark, Edinboro constructed another run consisting of six straight points. A jumper from Robertson would jump start the run, and it continued when Jack Gallagher turned defense into offense after a steal turned into his own layup.
With 1:08 to play, Seton Hill hit a huge three-pointer that increased their lead to 74-70. In the final minute the Griffins would go 10-10 from the line compared to Edinboro's 2-6 from the free throw line.
Robertson finished with a team-high 29 points and 16 rebounds, along with three blocks.
Jaryn Simpson followed him with 12 points and four rebounds.
Gallagher contributed 10 points, along with four assists and four rebounds.
Edinboro will be back in action on Wednesday when they match up against host IUP at 7:30 p.m.
