Edinboro, Pa. - The Fighting Scots placed first in eight races overall in the final regular season meet against Clarion University. Edinboro women took victory in six races, whilst the men took two wins. This brought a close to the regular season with the PSAC Championships just around the corner.
Edinboro women were edged out in their meet with Clarion 116.5-81.5. The men fell 149-46.
Stephanie Sipple placed first in two events, following on from last week against Gannon. Sipple touched the wall first in a tightly contested 200-yard freestyle race, finishing at 1:58.65. Clarion's Jordan Kutchak just behind at 1:58.66. Sipple then took victory in the 200-yard butterfly by a comfortable margin, finishing in a time of 2:06.79.
Paige Smith also won two races on the day. The first coming in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:15.43. The second came in a commanding win in the 500-yard freestyle.
Gerardo Gonzalez Ruiz saw victory in the 200-yard backstroke and the 200-yard IM putting him in good stead for his championship preparation.
Makayla Scheu and Leia Ross took one win a piece to close out the final meet of the season. Scheu earned her victory in a hard fought 100-yard freestyle race. Ross saw a time of 2:09.09 earn her victory in the 200-yard backstroke.
The Fighting Scots attention and preparation now turns to the PSAC Championships which are set to take place in York, Pa. The Championships get underway on Thursday Feb 16. and will go all the way through till Saturday, Feb 19.
