California, Pa.-- The Edinboro volleyball team earned another commanding win on Saturday afternoon against PSAC West conference opponent Cal U. in three sets (25-13, 25-18, 25-16). With the win, the Scots improved to (14-4) overall and (4-2) in conference play.
In three sets played, Edinboro recorded 13 more kills and ten less errors than the Vulcans. Edinboro finished with a (.310) hitting percentage compared to Cal's (.041) clip.
In the opening set Edinboro started out the match with their most efficient play of the afternoon with a (.375) hitting percentage. Early in the set Cal would continue to creep behind the Scots, as a Vulcans kill had Edinboro leading 10-9. The Scots then created a comfortable lead off a six-point run that was fueled by kills from Natalie Pallone and Erica Sharp. Later in the set an ace from Emelia Rowell and a kill from Jessie Michel extended the lead to 22-12 in favor of Edinboro. The set point came from a Vulcans attack error as the Scots won the first set convincingly 25-13.
In the second set Cal struck first and earned an early lead. Back-to-back aces from the Vulcans fueled their 5-2 lead early on. A kill from Sally Sterkel gave Edinboro their first lead of the set at 9-8. The Scots began to pull away after a kill from Bella Burrelli and back-to-back aces from Sharp to put Edinboro up 23-16. A kill from Pallone would retire the second set at 25-18 in favor of Edinboro.
In the third set Edinboro produced a match-high 15 kills as they completed the sweep. Right out of the gate the Scots were up 3-0 after two kills from Sterkel and one from Alicia Eldredge. Burrelli added two straight aces to pile onto the Edinboro lead. Later in the set a block shared by Sharp and Burrelli put the Scots up 22-13. Sharp finished the match with a kill and an ace in the final three points. Edinboro would conclude the match with a 25-16 set win.

Edinboro will be back in action on Friday (Oct. 7) when they host Pitt-Johnstown at 6 p.m.
