South Euclid, Ohio – The Fighting Scots women took victory in commanding fashion with a 152-50 score, whilst the men were narrowly beaten 101-93. The combined scores through 22 events saw Edinboro take home the victory.
The first event of the session saw Edinboro take first and third in the 200 Medley Relay. The team of
Leia Ross,
Paige Smith,
Stephanie Sipple, and
Makayla Scheu placed first in a time of 1:51.72.
Liliana Delgado,
Naomi Polito, Baila Burgara, and
Kristen Sipple took third at 1:59.57.
Shane Steffy took victory for the men in the 1000 Freestyle touching the wall at 11:22.78.
Lara De Carne and
Avery Zuk made it a one-two in the 200 Freestyle. De Carne turned in a time of 2:01.11, and Zuk followed at 2:03.00. Gerardo Ruiz placed second for the men (1:48.40) with
Frank Barger in third (1:54.32).
The women's 50 Freestyle saw
Makayla Scheu take first (25.01), with Abigail Greene following to take second place (26.08).
Ted Kinney and
Luke Edmonds followed suit on the men's side with Kinney placing at 21.90 and Edmonds finishing at 22.17.
The 200 IM saw the women take the top three spots.
Leia Ross took first at 2:18.55,
Rebecca Stone in second at 2:27.87, and
Naomi Polito in third at 2:29.29. Armando Apigna took first for the men at 2:04.39, with
Brian Bell taking third at 2:11.99.
Stephanie Sipple put in a strong performance in the 200 Butterfly winning at a time of 2:09.83. Baila Burgara continued her strong evening in second at 2:18.83.
The next victory for Edinboro came in the 100 freestyle with
Lara De Carne placing first at 55.76.
Liliana Delgado placed third with a time of (56.71).
Ted Kinney took second for the men (48.30) and
Frank Barger placed third (50.58).
Leia Ross took another victory in the 200-backstroke touching the wall at 2:12.63. Another Edinboro top three was completed by Abigail Greene (2:23.40) and
Rebecca Stone (2:26.04). The men repeated in their race with
Gerardo Gonzalez Ruiz placing first at 2:02.04, supported by Armando Apigna (2:05.23) and
Brian Bell (2:11.43).
The 500 Freestyle saw
Stephanie Sipple top another top three for Edinboro in a time of (5:20.34).
Paige Smith took second at 5:24.32, with
Avery Zuk in third at 5:41.80.
Lara De Carne completed the single events for Edinboro with a victory in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:36.27. Baila Burgara finished strong to take second at 2:38.67.
The closing relays saw Edinboro take victory in the 200 freestyle in both the men's and the women's events to top off a brilliant evening of races.
Swimming returns to the pool on Nov. 4 at Bloomsburg, Pa. with events set to begin at 5 p.m.
