Scots set to Host UPJ and Clarion on Homecoming Weekend

Edinboro Pa. -- The Edinboro volleyball team will begin their homestand this weekend when they host Pitt-Johnstown and Clarion. The Match with the Mountain Cats is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. Twenty-four hours later, on Saturday the Scots will return to McComb for a match against the Golden Eagles at 6 p.m. 

The Fighting Scots 

  • Edinboro enters the weekend with a (14-4) overall record and (4-2) in PSAC play 

  • Last weekend the Scots prevailed with a strong (2-0) road record, as they grinded out wins over Seton Hill and Cal  

  • The Scots stand in fourth place out of the West as they trail behind IUP, Gannon and top seed Clarion 

  • Edinboro's offensive attack has sustained nearly 13 kills per set and is ranked fifth in the PSAC 

  • Bella Burrelli leads the Scots with 180 kills (2.86 per set) on a (.146) clip 

  • Edinboro's attack begins with setter Alicia Eldredge who has 557 assists (8.84 per set)  

  • Edinboro's impact on the net has directly led to success this season as they produced 123 blocks (1.95 per set) 

  • Sally Sterkel leads Edinboro with 62 blocks on the season (0.98 per set) 

  • Another strength for the Scots has been their ability to halt their opponents' attack with digs, Edinboro is fourth in the PSAC with nearly 17 digs per set 

  • Edinboro's dig leader Carly Pry ranks among the top five in the conference with 4.58 digs per set 

Pitt-Johnstown 

  • UPJ is a member of the PSAC West and is led by head coach Morgan Mammosser 

  • The Mountain Cats come into the match with a (7-12) overall record and (1-5) in PSAC play 

  • UPJ has dropped six of their last seven matches with their last win coming against Seton Hill in five sets 

  • The Griffins are ranked sixth in opponent digs (14.83 per set) 

  • Lualis Alvarado leads UPJ with 172 kills (2.92 per set) 

  • Mallory Pinske leads the Mountain Cats with 52 blocks (0.84 per set) 

Clarion  

  • Clarion is a member of the PSAC West and is led by head coach Jennifer Herron 

  • The Golden Eagles come into the match with a (16-1) overall record and (6-0) in PSAC play 

  • Clarion has dropped won of their last six matches with their only loss this season coming against West Liberty coming against Pitt-Johnstown in four sets 

  • The Golden Eagles rank first in the conference in kills (14.25 per set), assists (12.58 per set), opponent hitting percentage (.120), and opponent service aces (0.68 per set) 

  • London Fuller leads the PSAC with 632 assists (11.09 per set) 

  • Abigail Selfridge leads the Golden Eagles with 237 digs (4.16 per set)
