Women’s Swimming return 1-1 with the men closed out by Bloomsburg

Bloomsburg, Pa.- Edinboro women were victorious against Millersville in a 133-72 result. Bloomsburg won out against both the men and women on a competitive night of races. The Fighting Scots had six first place finishes with 20 PSAC times on the night. 
 
Paige Smith opened the evening placing second in the 1000 freestyle improving on her previously recorded PSAC time by nine seconds, touching the wall at 10:54.83. 
 
Stephanie Sipple then took second in the 200 freestyle at 1:57.75, just edged out in the last length but clinched PSAC qualification with her time. Avery Zuk improved her time to 2:01.14 to take third. 
 
Makayla Scheu secured third in the 50 freestyle improving to a sub-25-seconds time of 24.98. 
 
Ted Kinney brought the first victory of the night for Edinboro in the men's 50 freestyle, winning at an improved time of 21.42. Frank Barger placed fourth clinching his PSAC qualification at 22.21.
 
Edinboro women dominated in the 400 IM with three Scots clinching PSAC qualification. Lara De Carne won in a time of 4:45.13, joined by Paige Smith in second (4:49.96) and Baila Bugara in fourth (4:54.81). 
 
Gerardo Gonzalez Ruiz won out in a fiercely competitive race beating out Bloomsburg by a tenth of a second at 4:25.36 to secure PSAC qualification.
 
Stephanie Sipple placed first in the 100 butterfly at 58.07, improving on her previous PSAC time. The men's race saw Elijah Innis place fourth in a PSAC time of 53.78.
 
Makayla Scheu and Avery Zuk continued their strong performance in the 100 freestyle. Scheu placed third and Zuk improved her time to 55.31 placing fourth. Luke Edmonds took another top three finish for the men at 48.77. 
 
Gerardo Gonzalez Ruiz took his second victory in the 100 backstroke with a new best on the season in a time of 53.30. 
 
Stephanie Sipple improved to a time of 5:16.27 in the 500 freestyle which secured second for Edinboro. Lara De Carne also saw improvement in the 100 breaststroke touching the wall at 1:08.91. 
 
Edinboro brought a close the evening's competition with victory in the men's 200 freestlye relay. The team of Luke Edmonds, Elijah Innis, Armando Apijna and Ted Kinney finished at 1:26.91. 
 
Edinboro return to the pool tomorrow afternoon with races beginning at 1 p.m. at McComb Fieldhouse.
