PSAC Play Begins on the Road for Men’s Basketball

Millersville, Pa. -- The Edinboro men's basketball team will begin conference play this weekend when they travel to face two teams from the PSAC East. On Friday night, the Fighting Scots will take on Millersville with a 7:30 pm start. The following night, they will travel to West Virginia for a battle against Shepherd with another 7:30 pm tip-off. 

Last Time Out 
Edinboro enters the weekend with a (2-3) overall record after a recent loss to Salem University at home last Saturday. The Fighting Scots scored a season low 67 points and shot 34.8% from the field. Naim Miller led all Edinboro scorers with 16 points as he connected on four three-pointers. 

As a Team 
The Fighting Scots now begin with a clean slate with conference play just over the horizon. In their first five games they produced just a sampling of what is to come in the young season. Edinboro enters the PSAC schedule with 76.4 points per game on 46.9% shooting from the field and 30.7% from beyond the arc. 

Edinboro's advantage thus far has been their ability to own the boards. The Scots are first in the conference for their rebounding margin at 10.2. The Scots are second in team rebounding with 41.4 per game. 

On defense the Scots remain activated with 7.8 steals per game. Around the rim Edinboro is averaging 4.0 blocks per game.  

Individual Leaders 
Kierell Green leads Edinboro in scoring at 15.2 points per game. Green also averages 7.2 rebounds per game. 

Dominique Keyes has averaged 13.6 points and 12.4 rebounds per game and has already recorded three double-doubles in just five games.   

Will Taylor averages 11.8 points per game along with 5.6 rebounds. 

Millersville 
The Marauders of Millersville University are led by head coach Casey Stizel. Millersville enters the contest with a (3-3) overall record after their 69-60 win over Bowie State on Wednesday night. 

Millersville has averaged 71.8 points per game while shooting 44.4% from the field. The Marauders have connected on 31.7% of their three-pointers this season. Justin Nwosu leads the Marauders in scoring at 13.3 points per game. Drew Stover contributes 10.7 points per game along with 4.7 rebounds. 

Shepherd 
The Rams of Shepherd University are led by head coach Justin Namolik. Shepherd enters the contest with a (3-2) overall record after their 66-55 win over Bowie State on Sunday night. 

Shepherd has averaged 68.4 points per game while shooting 44.3% from the field. The Rams have also made 7.8 three pointers per game this season. Daniel McClain-Corley leads the Rams in scoring at 13.6 points per game along with 6.0 rebounds. Jon Preston adds in 12.6 points per game along with 8.6 rebounds. 

Up Next 
After this weekend's slate Edinboro will be back home in two weeks when they host Lock Haven and Mansfield in back-to-back days.
