Amherst, Ny. – The Edinboro men's tennis team took care of business on Friday morning at the Miller Tennis Center as they defeated Daemen College 7-0. The Fighting Scots grabbed their third win of the season as they sit at an even (3-3) overall.
The featured doubles match of the day was the duo of Kaio Sacchi and Ruben Acuna. The two Fighting Scots rolled past Jack Paute Urdiales and Jayven Williamson of Daemen, 6-0. In singles play Sacchi and Thibault Dorval each swept their opponents 6-0, 6-0.
In the first singles match of the day, Bruno Sabio defeated Luis de Vuyst 6-2, 6-2. The following match Acuna finished off Phillip Vance 6-0, 6-1. Gustavo Martins added another victory for Edinboro when he defeated Zachary LaPlante 6-2, 6-4. In the final singles match of the day, Maksymilian Braziewicz ran away with a 6-0, 6-1, win over Urdiales.
The remaining doubles play had Rocco Palombarini and Sabio taking down Ross Belen and Vuyst 6-2. Finally, Dorval and Braziewicz defeated LaPlante and Vance in a close one 7-5.
With the win Edinboro has now won the last two matches with 7-0 sweeps and is gaining momentum in a hurry.
The Fighting Scots will be right back in action on Saturday when they travel to Carnegie Mellon University for a 7 p.m. match.
