Amherst, Ny. – The Edinboro Women's tennis team came out on top in a few close matches on Friday morning at the Miller Tennis Center as they defeated Daemen College 5-2. The Fighting Scots grabbed their fifth win of the season as they hold a (5-1) overall. 

Two close matches in singles play were clutched by Luciana Ponce and Anisha Thada. Ponce was victorious over Kitsa Scime 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 and Thada finished off Yinett Del Leon 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. If it wasn't for Ponce's and Thada's victories, Daemen would've ultimately won the match.  

In the other singles matches, Vidisha Pallamreddy defeated Frida Rubio 6-1, 6-2. Rafaella Negrao De Almeida rolled past Christina Stasiuk 6-1, 6-1. Marina Zottele finished off Mackenzie Schayes 6-3, 6-2. Finally, Ana Nadai swept Hannah Pagano 6-0, 6-0. 

In doubles play the duo of Nadai and Salomao earned the lone win for Edinboro 6-1, over Schayes and Pagano. 

With the win Edinboro has now won two straight and will look to continue to build upon their early success. The Fighting Scots will be back in action on March 10th at Saint Thomas Aquinas College.
