Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro University women's lacrosse team dropped an 8-6 decision in their home opener against Lake Erie College Wednesday afternoon at Sox Harrison Stadium.
After the Scots built a 3-2 halftime lead, the Storm scored the first four goals of the third quarter to take a 6-3 advantage.
Traci Culver slowed the Storm run with an unassisted tally at the 6:19 mark of the third quarter.
Maggie Anderson pulled Edinboro to within one, 6-5, with 2:23 to play in the third. Cassidy Bourne scored for Lake Erie with 1:01 on the clock in the third to extend the lead to 7-5.
Cynthia Saxby pushed the Strom lead to 8-5 with 7:15 remaining in the game.
Amanda Keister scored her first collegiate goal with 12 seconds left to set the final.
Saxby scored the first goal of the game with 1:29 left in the first quarter.
Sophia Bernardoni scored her first goal as a Scot with a buzzer beater at the 5 second mark of the quarter.
Culver gave Edinboro the lead at the 10:25 mark of the second before Saxby tied it at 8:13. Anderson gave the Scots a 3-2 halftime lead when she took a
Lexi Boyk feed and scored top shelf with 5:18 left in the second.
Anderson and Culver each scored a pair of goals. Anderson led the Scots with six shots.
Christina Clutter too the loss in net allowing five goals on seven shots.
The Scots are back in action on Saturday when they host Gannon University at Sox Harrison Stadium.
