California, Pa. – The Edinboro softball team split a twin bill with Cal U in nonconference action Tuesday afternoon.
The Fighting Scots dropped the opener 8-0 before coming back and winning the nightcap 4-3.
In game two, Cal jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Edinboro responded in the top of the fourth. After a lead off ground out,
Cheyenne Shughart singled and moved to second on a
Mackenzie Quider walk.
Maura Pasquale hit a home run to put the Scots ahead 3-2. Anna McGinnis restarted the inning with a walk but was erased on a
Kendra Keyser fielder's choice. Back-to-back singles by
Elizabeth Clark and
Lauren Bush plated Keyser and extended the lead to 4-2.
The insurance run would come in handy as Cal hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth, but that set the final.
Bush picked up the win in the circle allowing three runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
In the opener, the Vulcans score twice in the first and once in the second to take a 3-0 lead. Cal scored five more runs in the fifth to invoke the run rule.
Macy Sral took the loss in the circle allowing three runs in three innings of work.
The Scots are back in action on Friday April 1
st with a visit to Gannon. The first game of the twin bill will start at 2:30 p.m.
