Women’s Lacrosse Fall to Mercyhurst to Begin Busy Week of Games

Erie, Pa. – Edinboro were back in action Monday evening where they faced Mercyhurst in a rescheduled game. The Lakers were the victors on the night with a 23-2 final score.

Kaitlyn Binotto had a season-high 20 saves in the cage for Edinboro. This brings her total to 146 saves on the season so far.

Mercyhurst took control in the first quarter of the game with an 8-0 lead into the second. Edinboro was unable to take advantage of the clears presented to them by the 12 Lakers turnovers, with 5-25 being successful clears.

Edinboro kept pushing to find a breakthrough against the Mercyhurst defense. Sophia Bernardoni scored her fourth goal of the season with 12 minutes remaining in the game. Maggie Anderson then contributed with her fifth goal of the season late into the final quarter.

This was the first of four games for the Fighting Scots this week. Edinboro will be at Sox Harrison stadium when they face Mercyhurst again tomorrow evening, Ursuline College on Thursday, Apr. 21, and in their penultimate home game of the season on Saturday, Apr. 23, they face Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
