Slippery Rock, Pa. – The Edinboro softball team took one of two against host Slippery Rock Friday afternoon in PSAC West action.
The Scots dropped the opener 1-0 before the offense came alive in an 11-4 victory.
In game two, Edinboro jumped out early with three runs in the first.
Maya Kozup reached on a one out single, and promptly stole second. Cheyenne Shugart drew a walk and the bases were loaded after a
Mackenzie Quider groundball was misplayed.
Stephanie Krick pushed a run across with a hit by pitch before
Lauren Bush singled home a pair to make it 3-0.
The Scots put up a sixth spot keyed by
Kearson Wagner who drew a lead-off walk and then in her second plate appearance of the inning drove in a pair of runs with a two-out single pushing the Edinboro advantage to 9-0. Quider picked up an RBI single in the top of the third to push the lead to 10-0.
Slippery Rock scored four times in the fourth to keep the mercy rule off the table. Wagner picked up her third RBI of the game in the sixth to set the final.
Wagner and Kozup each tallied three hits in the game to lead the offense.
Lauren Bush picked up the win in the circle going seven innings allowing four runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.
In the opener, Slippery Rock scored an unearned run in the fifth to claim the 1-0 victory.
Macy Sral was took a tough loss in the circle allowing one unearned run on six hits in six innings of work. She struck out five.
The Scots close out the regular season on Saturday when they host Cal U in a PSAC West doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
