Carlisle, Pa. – The Edinboro women's swimming team turned in a solid first swim a the PSAC Fall Sprint Frenzy and Fall Invitational on Friday.
At the Fall Frenzy, the Scots brought home a pair of relay wins with the 200 medley team of
Leia Ross,
Lara De Carne,
Alexi Schrecongost and
Izzy Hanek finished in a time of 1:50.82. The trio of De Carne, Schecongost and
Emma Beggs were first in the 3x100 breaststroke with a time of 3:31.91.
The Scots also had four relays place second on the day. The 3x100 butterfly team of
Baila Bugara, Lillian Dilts and Schrecongost touched the wall in 3:05.81. The 3x100 backstroke trio of Beggs Hanek and Ross finished in 3:06.43. The 400 medley team of Ross, Bugara, Beggs and De Carne posted a time of 4:20.09 while Hanek, Schrecongost, Cara Della Toffalo and De Carne turned in a time of 3:43.38 in the 400 freestyle relay.
Edinboro turned in a trio of top 10 finishes in the 50-yard breaststroke. Schecongost was second in a time of 31.23. Beggs added a time of 33.10 to finish eighth while Ross was 10
th in a time of 33.26.
Hanek was first in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 28.12. Ross checked in in third with a time of 29.05 while DeCarne's 29.17 was good for fifth. Dilts added a second-place finish in the 50 fly in a time of 27.88.
In the evening session, Edinboro scored four PSAC qualifying times in the first swim of the season.
Hanek posted a strong effort finishing first in the 100 backstroke with a PSAC cut time of 59.27. She also finished first in the 50 free with a time of 24.52, also a PSAC qualifying time. Dilts also posted a top 10 finish int eh 50 free with a time of 25.94 good for 10
th.
Edinboro's other PSAC qualifying times came in the 100 breaststroke. Ross touched the wall in 1:09.64 to finish in fourth while Beggs was sixth with a time of 1:10.60.
Schrecongost won the 100 IM with a time of 1:00.90. De Carne added a time of 1:02.10 good for third and Beggs was fifth in 1:03.16. Bugara turned in a time of 1:02.66 to finish seventh in the 100 butterfly.
The Scot 400 medley relay squad of Ross, Beggs, Schrecongost and Hanek were second with a time of 4:03.08.
The Scots return to action on Oct. 27 when they host Notre Dame College inside McComb Fieldhouse at 5 p.m.
